Local Links for Nottinghamshire
Nottingham is a City and popular Tourist Destination in the East Midlands of the UK.
Famed for the Tales of Robin Hood and the Lace Industry, the City has a wealth of history to be explored and these days also has a lively café and club culture.
Popular with tourists of all ages be warned that the City Centre (particularly at weekends) is a busy Hen and Stag Party destination.
Nottingham has excellent Transport access: The M1 Motorway runs past the western edge of the city with exits at Junction 24 (Nottingham South/Centre A453), Junction 25 (Nottingham West/Centre A52) and Junction 26 (Nottingham North/Centre A610).
NB: For some reason this part of the M1 seems to be somewhat of an accident black spot so do take care if travelling by car.
Nottingham is one of only a few English cities to have a light rail system with trams running from the city centre to Phoenix Park and Ride near Junction 26 of the M1.
Nottingham is a significant Railway Station on the Midland Main Line with links to London St. Pancras, Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street.
Broad Marsh Coach Station is some 250 metres from the Rail and Tram Station.

The Lace Market area of Nottingham is home to many popular tourist attractions including the Galleries of Justice located in the old law courts and County Jail.
Some of the original 19th century Lace Machines are still in use today and guided tours of the area are available.
Adjoining the Hockley Village area of the city, the Lace Market now accommodates many fashionable bars, clubs, restaurants and shops.
